this weekend surprised me

Monday, April 04, 2016

i'm currently sitting outside on our patio drinking iced coffee while watching my sweet husband rake leaves.
it's monday and it's his only day off this week.
he worked all weekend and didn't get home until ten o' clock yesterday.
yesterday was sunday.
my husband doesn't complain. (it's a little annoying... see, i'm the complainer) he just does what he needs to do and fully soaks up his free time. i admire that about him.
he worked all weekend and he woke up this morning and took care of ruby while i slept in.
and now he's doing yard work.
he's a good one.
and last night i had some friends over. dear friends that played cards with me and ate popcorn when it would otherwise be a little too quiet in my house for my liking.
and jordan even joined in when he got home after 10, even though he likes a quiet home.
so, this weekend.
this weekend that was supposed to be terrible because jordan was working, was very enjoyable.
friday,
i met my friend lydia in st. louis for lunch,
and we went to the mall. i shopped alll afternoon and evening. i did all of the retuning and even got a couple treats for myself.
and some friends were getting together that evening, and ruby fell asleep on our drive across the river.
and so at 9 o'clock in the evening when we arrived to a friend's house she was awake and happy.
we watched brian reagan and laughed and ate jelly beans. and jordan even joined us when he was off work.
saturday.
saturday was another good day. ruby took a good nap in the morning and i was productive. all of our laundry is done. and the house is/was clean. a friend of mine invited me over for lunch, and she had a whole spread of delicious food that i was not expecting. and i enjoyed getting to know her and another mama.
by the time i got home from lunch, jordan was home from work around 3.
it kind of felt like he had the entire day off.
we enjoyed some time at home, and it was amazing do just do nothing. jordan took ruby to the hardware store to get some things for the yard. and i was able to finish the rest of the things around the house.
we ordered very good pizza
late after ruby went to sleep at eight and invited brie and baylee over and we talked until late after jordan went to sleep.
then church the next morning. and a quiet afternoon. and a walk with a friend to see jordan at the hospital while the sun set.
and then back to our house where i left the candles burning, and we put on some favorite records.
and we played that card game.

this is what living life in community looks like. and i'm thankful for my people.

it was a good weekend. and i didn't capture any of it in photos, except this one from this morning. but, i still want to remember. so thanks for letting me preserve this weekend here.

and the best part.
it's still morning and jordan's home. and today is our weekend.

how was your weekend?
