in college one summer we had a sunday night book club, and we read through the chronicles of narnia. i remember spending the entire sunday before reading the book in a pool with jen, or laying on the trampoline reading aloud with jordan. it might go down in my own history as the best summer, i can't remember if i had a job, or what i even did during the week. it didn't matter, because it was summer, the sun would come out eventually, and we could always stay up talking on those warm nights, even if there was something to do in the morning. i forget which book this phrase comes from, but i remember reading it, and then talking about it with friends. it resonated with us personally, and we would repeat it over and over again, that summer and throughout the rest of college, "onward and upward!" and now, as i am longing for summer, and my season right now to end, i get through the day by thinking, "onward and upward!" it will pass and the summer will come. 

so, here's a mix i made for driving with the windows down and late summer nights. i've been listening to this one prematurely for a few weeks--it's a good one!
