In the midst of a tough week of Jordan working nights we made it out for a fun family day at Eckert's Farm. I'm so thankful for a husband that values fun & adventure. We could have easily stayed home, it surely would have been the sensible thing to do, I mean, just look at our tired eyes.
Instead, we got dressed, covered ourselves in sunscreen, and headed out into the above 100 degree heat to pick blackberries in the sun. And some quality time outdoors was just what we needed.
look at this girl walking down the rows of blackberries
i think these photos of us are kind of hilarious. her face.
it's seriously so beautiful out here
it's important to taste the blackberries, you know, to make sure they're ripe.
ruby's a blackberry monster!!!
Taking the tractor ride back with the cutest little girl covered in blackberries.
(she has a blackberry stuck in her teeth, and still managed to pull it off and make it adorable)
Eckert's has a little grocery store, so we stopped in to do a little shopping and take a break from the heat. Ruby had the time of her life with this mini grocery cart. This moment here was definitely her favorite. It only took three adults to make sure she didn't destroy everything on site. If you stop in make sure to try out all the yummy samples and grab a bag of their homemade tortilla chips.
All these photos were taken seconds from each other. She's like a little tornado. I love that ornery look in the bottom right photo, haha. After cooling off, we headed back out to the fields again to pick vegetables and flowers. I will be sharing photos from the rest of our day soon. I also have a yummy blackberry recipe to share with you.
Thank you, Eckert's for inviting us out to pick blackberries, we had a lovely time and it was just what we needed. They were so kind and provided all of the fun for this day. They also invited a some other bloggers out that weekend, you can see their posts here and here. And thanks, mom for capturing the family photos!
p.s. we're (relatively) long time fans of eckert's, it was one of the first places we visited when we moved to the area. see our photos from our last visit to to Eckert's to pick strawberries HERE. also, photos from apple picking when ruby turned 4 months old HERE and HERE.
