once we got back from montgomery, jordan and i took a little weekend trip to augusta, kentucky. my family owns this little cabin on the ohio river next to a small town. it was storming when we got there, this picture doesn't really do the storm justice.
it made for a perfect night for popcorn, chocolate gelato and movies.
we would occasionally get up to look outside to watch either a big barge or a train go by.
the next morning turned out to be a nice day, so we went to the town of augusta.
here are some snapshots of the little town on the river:
we had a lot of fun exploring and watching the ferry go back and forth across the river. it was really just good to spend time together after being apart for so long. i also came here growing up, so it was fun to share memories with jordan. isn't it a nice place?
the above picture are from our second day in montgomery,
they lowered the flag and had an award ceremony
that evening there was a dinner in downtown montgomery
can you spot jordan in these photos, he's there!
(this is from the final day, they had a graduation parade -- it was neat to see how much they look like they belong in the airforce after only a short time)
if you need help finding him...
top: he's the first row from the left and third from the front
bottom: third row from left, third person from the front
and that's it of the photos from montgomery, we had a fun time learning about what jordan was up to for the five weeks he was there. i still don't know how he marched around the entire month in the heat in those uniforms (the one he typically wears is a lot heavier than the uniform he is wearing), i was dying in my sundress.
i captured jordan opening the gift my family and i got him for his graduation from officer's training and also for our one year anniversary! i thought it would be fun since he wasn't expecting much and we decided to get him an ipad, he was very surprised. also, check out my room at the bed and breakfast we stayed at. awesome, right?
i went down with jordan's parents to get jordan from officer's training with the air force at maxwell airforce base. he was there for almost five weeks! and it was way too long. so, we were so excited to be able to see jordan on our first night in montgomery, alabama. we had not been expecting to see him until the next morning, but he got privileges to go out for dinner. lucky for us.
i traveled up to columbus this weekend with this girl, mia. a good friend from high school. in high school we spent most days together, but since college we haven't stayed in touch. but it didn't take much to feel like close friends again. it was so fun to drive up with her and spend all saturday enjoying columbus.
we had jeni's icecream, which is a must in columbus, we also went to easton, an outdoor shopping mall and ate at northstar which is another favorite. (we were too busy eating and fully enjoying this that the only pictures i took weren't that good, and were mostly meant to send to jordan!)
my favorite part of the trip was definitely seeing these two girls.
it was a big surprise to see nicki, one of my closest friends. she just got back from a trip to africa and i didn't get a chance to see her before she left. it was so good to do a little catching up, hugging and a lot of dancing.
and on to the wedding, which was beautiful...
leigh has been such a great friend to me through so many years and it was such a blessing to be able to see her marry ben. i need to post the pictures leigh took at our wedding -- she is so talented. and look at her, she was such a beautiful bride.
i wish i had more of the decorations and such, it was gorgeous. i will eventually get better of taking actual photographs of my mental ones.
here's a snapshot of nicki and i at the photobooth, ha!
I'm Katelyn, a creative who finds beauty in the little things. I like the windows open and vases filled with flowers. I photograph and write about the mostly small but sometimes big adventures we find in our daily lives.
And this is my sweet, sweet family. My favorite person, Jordan and our little Ruby.
