ruby's first easter

Happy Easter! We had so much fun celebrating Ruby's first Easter. We are so grateful for the great gift our Lord has given us. and so, so thankful that we can use both these silly and meaningful traditions to teach Ruby about Jesus.
My family came into town this weekend. We had a easter egg hunt at church yesterday and Ruby had a blast. This morning we woke up and had a spectacular easter breakfast complete with mimosas. We headed to the later service at church. We came home and took some family photos and Ruby hunted some easter eggs and found her basket.
This was the first holiday where she has been able to somewhat participate in the traditions. She loved getting the items out of her basket, playing with them and putting them back. She also loved shaking the eggs filled with candy (for mama, of course). As well as opening her large wooden egg with a chick inside.
Here's Ruby's Easter basket! I shared in this post some of the things I wanted to get Ruby. My mom brought some gifts as well, so we combined efforts to make Ruby's basket.
and here comes bunny ruby!
here are some photos of our brunch before church this morning
her smile in that photo. haha.
my parents headed home this afternoon, and we had dinner with some dear friends and played games. i'm so thankful for how this new place suddenly isn't feeling very new anymore. we have a community, a family to share a meal with and a church that we feel so connected to.
I've been reading the Jesus storybook bible to Ruby (which is amazing, get it if you don't have it already) which, I started reading with her when she was about 5 or 6 months old. This past week the stories lined up perfectly with our bedtime readings, the passover, good friday, and the resurrection. It was so sweet seeing how that happened. I hope that Ruby is understanding a little of His word and if not, I have learned so much through the simple truths.
We just finished reading the resurrection to story. Even though she was tired and not really paying attention, we know that he is alive.
i hope you have had a wonderful weekend and a good resurrection sunday spent with those you love.
