jordan and i both lack sentimental qualities. so, when it came to leaving bloomington, we tried really hard to enjoy our favorite places and people before we left. we walked around the downtown, and ate at our favorite places, including falafels. we spent time with good friends before we left. since bloomington's such a transient town, people come and go, so it made it a little easier to say goodbye to people. some of our friends were leaving too, and others would be shortly. we made such great friends and are already planning trips to see them (i'll be heading to new york in a few weeks to see kelsey!)

i grew up in ohio, and went to a school 20 minutes away from my hometown, so it was a big deal moving to a new place. we had to learn how to navigate a new city and learn all the good restaurants and stores. i don't know what i would have done if i had not gotten an iphone that summer. but, eventually i got it, just in time for us to move to a new city. :) i am glad to be in indianapolis, but bloomington will always be something special for us, as it was our first home together.

my birthday was actually the 16th of may, so i'm only a month behind now. jordan and i's birthdays happen to fall right next to one another, his is the day after mine.  it's made our birthdays more fun, to celebrate with him. jordan has always done a good job of loving me well on my birthday. he started off my day by making me breakfast in bed, and after work we went shopping and went to the best and most romantic restaurant. i loved every minute of it.

every time i walk outside, i have to check on my plants. it's crazy that this was one month ago, i need to show you how well they are doing now!!

for jordan's birthday we went to an indian's baseball game and they had fireworks. he ate all the ballpark food he wanted. it's been a little bit of a tradition to go to a baseball game on his birthday. unfortunately i forgot to bring my camera again. this summer, i am going to get in the habit of taking it with me and taking more daily photos... maybe once i get through all of these other photos I need to go through! 

in college one summer we had a sunday night book club, and we read through the chronicles of narnia. i remember spending the entire sunday before reading the book in a pool with jen, or laying on the trampoline reading aloud with jordan. it might go down in my own history as the best summer, i can't remember if i had a job, or what i even did during the week. it didn't matter, because it was summer, the sun would come out eventually, and we could always stay up talking on those warm nights, even if there was something to do in the morning. i forget which book this phrase comes from, but i remember reading it, and then talking about it with friends. it resonated with us personally, and we would repeat it over and over again, that summer and throughout the rest of college, "onward and upward!" and now, as i am longing for summer, and my season right now to end, i get through the day by thinking, "onward and upward!" it will pass and the summer will come. 

so, here's a mix i made for driving with the windows down and late summer nights. i've been listening to this one prematurely for a few weeks--it's a good one!

it's saturday night and jordan is studying for step1 (his big test before he begins third year in med school) poor guy is stressing out... make sure you send him some encouraging messages this week! his test is friday, so he's studying like crazy. since he's working so hard, i'm finally getting myself to edit these photos i haven't posted. i probably would have never gotten to these if it wasn't for kelly's constant reminders :) 

moving on to the real subject at hand... easter was a lot of fun this year. it was much needed rest from work (a little update) and our parents visited over the weekend. kelly and mary came over, we decorated, and did all kinds of easter things. similarly to valentine's day i tried to squeeze as much fun, joy and laughter out of this holiday with friends and family before starting work again.
